Long-term boarding with the consistency your bird needs
Once a trip stretches into weeks, a fortnight away, a month with family overseas, a long work posting, the question that keeps you up is whether your bird will really be alright without you for that long. Our extended stay program is built to answer that with a calm yes. We have looked after birds for stretches running from one week to two months, and along the way we have learned exactly what keeps a companion bird fed, well, and emotionally even through a long absence.
Routine is the whole game. Birds run on habit, and pulling the rhythm out from under one for weeks can tip it into feather-plucking, off food, or shutting down. So before any long stay we sit down and map the plan, feeding times, lights-out, the enrichment they favour, how much company they want, anything health-related, and then we hold to it, day after day, until your bird finds its footing here. Most settle within a few days and are eating, playing, and chattering as usual; by the end of week one a lot of them are plainly comfortable.
Long-stay guests get extra out-of-cage time and one-on-one attention from handlers who know what they are doing. We refresh the enrichment weekly to keep boredom at bay, set new foraging challenges, and tune the care plan as your bird's preferences reveal themselves. You will get daily photos and a proper weekly report on behaviour, appetite, mood, and anything else worth flagging. The aim is plain: when you finally walk back through the door, your bird is not merely getting by but genuinely doing well. Any stay of seven nights or more drops to our reduced rate, because long-term care should stay within reach for the Milton owners who need it.
Personalized plan developed before your bird arrives.
$28/day for stays of seven nights or more.
Additional one-on-one time with experienced handlers.
Detailed health and behaviour summaries beyond daily updates.
Fresh activities daily to prevent boredom on longer stays.
Photos and notes sent every single day of the stay.
Book seven nights or more and the rate falls to $28 a day, $7 a night less than our standard overnight price. That covers the lot, day and night care alike: fresh meals, enrichment, socialising, evening wind-downs, morning health checks, daily photos, and the detailed weekly behaviour report. The lower rate is deliberate, longer-term care should not be a luxury for Milton families. Nothing is bolted on after the fact, the extra enrichment, the added one-on-one time, and the weekly reports all come standard with every extended stay.
